Private Boat Experiences in Procida

The island reads differently from the water. Exclusive cruises, days that reach Ischia, aperitivo at golden hour and dinner at anchor under the stars — the boat is yours alone.

In short

What we offer on the water

Procida Ride arranges private boat experiences departing from Procida, in the Bay of Naples. There are four of them: an exclusive cruise around the island, a combined itinerary that takes in Procida and Ischia in a single day, a sunset aperitivo cruise, and a private dinner served on board under the stars. Every charter is exclusive to your group, run by a licensed English-speaking skipper, and quoted as a fixed price for the boat rather than per seat.

Nothing is sold as a fixed departure. You tell us the date, the experience and the number of people; we confirm the right boat, the meeting point and a quote on WhatsApp. There is no online checkout, no shared group and no timetable to keep up with.

Four experiences

Choose how you spend your day — or your evening

Exclusive

Private island cruise

A full circuit of Procida's coastline at your own pace. You pass beneath Terra Murata, drift along the pastel arc of Marina Corricella as it appears from the sea rather than the land, round Punta Pizzaco and stop in coves that no road reaches. Your skipper reads the wind each morning and picks the swim stops accordingly, so the route is decided by the sea rather than a brochure.

Two islands

Procida & Ischia combined

One private day, two very different islands. You cross the channel to Ischia, follow a stretch of its coast — the castle, the cliffs, the bays that are easiest to reach by boat — swim where the water is clearest, and come back to Procida in the afternoon light. It works best as a full day, and because the boat is yours, time ashore can be added or dropped as the day goes.

Golden hour

Sunset aperitivo on board

A short evening charter timed backwards from the sunset. Drinks and something light are served on deck while Corricella turns from ochre to rose behind you and the fishing boats come back in. Departure moves through the season — later in midsummer, earlier in September — and we set it when we confirm your date, so you are already on the water when the light turns.

After dark

Dinner under the stars

Dinner served on board at anchor, with the island as a line of lights on the horizon and nothing else around you. Menus are agreed in advance, so the evening can be built around a proposal, an anniversary or simply a quiet last night on Procida. It is the most private of the four, and the one that most often needs booking ahead.

Private, not shared

Why a private charter changes the day

A shared boat tour is a compromise on every axis. The departure time belongs to the operator, the route belongs to whoever booked first, and the swim stop ends when the group is called back aboard. None of that is a problem when the boat carries only your party.

Our skippers work these waters year-round. They know which side of the island is sheltered when the wind turns, where the water stays clear after a rough night, and which coves fill with day-trippers by midday and empty again at five. That local reading is most of what separates a good day on the water from an ordinary one, and it is why we keep the itinerary loose until the morning itself.

If you would rather see the island by road as well, our private island tours cover Corricella, Terra Murata and the viewpoints from the land side, and many guests pair the two across a single stay.

Every charter

What is included as standard

01A licensed skipper

No licence or boating experience needed from you. Your skipper handles the boat, the route and the mooring throughout.

02English and Italian

Clear communication on board from the first message to the last mooring line, in both languages.

03Exclusive use

The boat carries your party only. No strangers, no fixed seats, no shared schedule.

04A flexible route

Stops and timings are agreed with you and adjusted on the day around the wind and the sea.

05A fixed quote

Agreed in writing on WhatsApp before you commit. Priced for the charter, not per person.

06Transfers if you need them

We can collect you from your hotel or villa and bring you to the berth, and take you back afterwards.

Weather in the Bay of Naples can turn quickly outside high summer. If conditions are unsuitable for your booked slot, we reschedule or agree an alternative with you — we do not sail in unsafe weather.

Who books these

Built for small groups and quiet occasions

Most of our charters carry couples and families, and a good share of the evening ones mark something: a proposal off Corricella, an anniversary at anchor, a birthday that wanted to be somewhere other than a restaurant. Small groups of friends take the full-day Ischia itinerary more often than any other.

We also work regularly with boutique hotels, villa managers, concierge teams and yacht crews on Procida, arranging boat days for their guests alongside the private transfers that get them there. If you are booking on behalf of a guest rather than yourself, say so in your first message and we will handle the coordination directly.

Timing

When to go out

SeasonMay to October

The reliable window for boat days. July and August bring the warmest water and the busiest coves; June and September give you both, with more space.

MorningCalmest water

The sea is usually flattest before midday, which suits full-day itineraries and anyone who would rather not have a lively crossing.

Late afternoonBest light

Corricella faces the light late in the day. For photographs of the island from the water, this is the hour that matters.

EveningQuietest

Aperitivo and dinner charters go out once the day boats are back in. The anchorages are effectively empty.

Booking ahead matters most for sunset and dinner charters in July and August, and for any date around a public holiday. For everything else, a few days' notice is usually enough — but a message costs nothing, and we will tell you honestly how tight a date is.

Good to know

Private boat charters in Procida: your questions

Do I need a boat licence to charter a boat in Procida?

No. Every charter we arrange is run by a licensed local skipper who handles the boat, the route and the mooring, so no boating experience or licence is required from you or your group.

Where do private boat trips in Procida depart from?

Departures are from Procida's marinas, most often Marina Grande or Marina Chiaiolella. We confirm the exact berth and meeting point on WhatsApp before your trip, and we can arrange a car transfer to reach it from your hotel or villa.

Can we swim and snorkel during a private boat tour?

Yes. Swim stops are part of every daytime itinerary. Your skipper chooses sheltered spots based on the wind and sea conditions on the day, and you decide how long to stay in each one.

How long does the combined Procida and Ischia boat trip take?

It is normally a full-day itinerary, because the channel crossing, the coastal stretch along Ischia and the swim stops all need unhurried time. Shorter versions are possible if you would rather stay closer to Procida — tell us how long you have and we will shape the route to fit.

What time does the sunset aperitivo cruise start?

The departure is set by the sunset itself, so it moves through the season — later in midsummer, noticeably earlier in spring and autumn. We confirm your departure time when we agree the date, working back from golden hour so you are on the water for the best of the light.

Can you arrange a dinner on board for a proposal or anniversary?

Yes. Private dinners on board are arranged in advance, with the menu and any special requests agreed beforehand. Tell us what the occasion is when you write to us and we will plan the evening around it.

Is a private boat charter suitable for families with children?

Yes. Because the boat is exclusively yours, the pace, the swim stops and the length of the day are entirely up to you, which suits families far better than a shared departure. Let us know the ages of any children so we can advise on the right boat and itinerary.

What should we bring on board?

Swimwear, a towel, sun protection, a hat and soft-soled or bare feet for the deck. For evening charters bring a light layer, because it cools quickly on the water once the sun is down.

What happens if the sea is too rough on the day?

Safety decides. If the forecast or the sea state makes a charter unsuitable, we reschedule it or agree an alternative with you rather than going out in poor conditions.

How do I book a private boat experience in Procida?

Message us on WhatsApp with your date, the experience you have in mind and your group size. We reply with availability, the right boat for your party and a fixed quote for the charter. Nothing is charged through the website.
